Description

A fine quality and most decorative mid-late 19th century FRENCH MANTEL CLOCK of "mystery" type, with a bi-metallic grid pendulum fitted with a circle of paste diamonds that swings back-and-forth around the dial.

The case is of "lyre"? shape in royal blue porcelain surmounted by an ormolu sunburst and embellished with ornate ormolu mounts, with an oval porcelain base similarly mounted and raised on matching feet. The eight-day movement strikes hours and half hours on a bell whilst the fine handpainted convex enamel dial is perfect as are the ornate pierced ormolu hands. 14ins (35.5cms) high. 6ins (15cms) wide; just 3ins (7.5cms) deep.
