Description

A handsome late 18th Cent Longcase Clock fitted with a later musical movement sounding the quarters on a nest of 8 bells. The dial is signed for Benjamin Peers of Chester. He is listed as working there between 1773 to 1784

The case is in nicely figured mahogany with mahogany cross banding and boxwood stringing.

The 8 day movement sounds the hours on a coiled gong and the quarters on a nest of 8 bells. The attractive arched dial has a silvered chapter ring and gilt spandrels. To the arch is a selector for either Westminster or Whittington chimes.

The case is in good condition consistent with age and use. The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
