Chequers Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Bevelled glass panels to the front and sides and on the rear door and a thick bevelled viewing panel on top, with the repeater button adjacent. The backplate is marked ‘PARIS’ to the centre and the markers mark (an oval poinçon with a carriage clock, letters D C either side) is to the left under the coiled gong. Numbered 30204 to the lower left hand corner of the backplate which is repeated on the baseplate. This clock has been fully serviced and is in full working condition and is supplied with a key; the escapement platform is a replacement. French, for the British market, circa 1885.
