Good 18th Cent Figured Walnut London Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

An elegant slim, early 18th Cent longcase clock. The case is in nicely figured walnut and it has a smart brass dial and 8 day movement. It is by John Hammers who is listed as working in London in the early 18th Cent.

The good quality 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell. The brass dial has nice gilt crown and cherub spandrels and a silvered chapter ring. It also has a subsidiary seconds dial and working date aperture. As you would expect with a good London clock it has an all brass pendulum and brass cased weights.

The beautifully proportioned case is in good restored condition and a lovely colour. There is the inevitable fine shrinkage crack to the base but this is not too noticeable. The trunk door has a working lock and key.

The movement is nice and clean, in good working order and keeping good time.

The maximum dimensions are:

221cm (87“) high

51cm (20“) wide

28cm (11“) deep

We offer free local delivery and set-up (100mls), national and international delivery can be arranged at cost. Alternatively you are welcome to collect from our shop (by appointment)

If purchased at the full retail price we offer a 12 month guarantee on the basis that, in the unlikely event of a problem, the movement is returned to us for repair.
