Description

A mahogany longcase clock dating to the early 19th Century in the typical West Country Style. Its has an arch top with a wavy line pediment, reeded side columns with brass capitals and matching side quarter columns. It has a nicely figured door and base with boxwood stringing. The finely painted enamel dial has a moon roller disc within the arch, showing the shape of the moon over a 29.5 day cycle(used to plan night time travel before street lighting). The dial is signed by the maker Barnesconi of Bruton. It has an 8 day movement that strikes the hours on a bell. F Barnasconi is listed in nearby Bath 1820-40, possibly one and the same.

Current Condition
