Description

A small solid oak Edinburgh made longcase clock dating to the early 19th Century. It has a low swan neck hood, an arched long door, flanked by reeded quartered side pillars and a plinth base. The dial has an unusual, attractive classical designed painted enamel dial (a reflection of the Georgian interiors in the New Town area of Edinburgh). It has subsidiary date and seconds dials and is signed by the maker Paterson of Edinburgh. The 8 day movement sounds the hours on a bell. James Paterson is listed as working 1789-1825.

Current Condition
