Superb Mid Victorian Cuckoo Wall Clock

Description

A beautifully carved cuckoo wall clock from the Black Forest in Germany. The case is carved with grape vine leaves and surmounted by a cuckoo. On the halves and hours the door opens to reveal an animated cuckoo which opens its beak and wings as the cuckoo sounds. The clock has its original carved bone matching hands, it has a weight driven pendulum movement. A very good original example of this type of clock. Made about 1880.
