Pretty Satinwood "Balloon" Shaped Timepiece

1900 - 1920
Description

A pretty late Victorian or Edwardian ballon-shaped MANTEL CLOCK in perfect working order.

Unusually, this is veneered in figured satinwood and applied with an oval Wedgwood style green jaspar-ware plaque to the front, whilst it is supported on a moulded plinth base and brass 'compressed' bun feet. The French timepiece movement with its platform lever escapement is of 8-day duration, whilst the convex enamel dial is perfect. 9.5ins high; 6.5ins wide (base); 3.75 ins deep. (23 x 15.5 x 9.5cms)
