1930s West End Watch Co 'Pioneer' wrist watch and chain.

The watch has a signed stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so a little bigger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is nickel and it is in good condition, just a little unevenness to the hinged back. The back of the watch is signed with the West End Watch Co signature around an image of a locomotive.

From the late 19th Century, until the advent of quartz clocks and watches in 1970s, West End Watches were the standard supplier of clocks and watches to the pre-independence Indian railway companies which could explain the locomotive on the back of the watch.

The watch glass is in good order.

The dial is signed has three hairline cracks but they are quite difficult to see with the naked eye. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a single chain, 41cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a shorter chain upon which hangs a vesta.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
