Antique Silver Pocket Watch and Chain

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged metal cover which is engraved with the wording, 'Breguet Kronometer, ligne droite, ancre 15 rubis'. Although signed Breguet, this is not a true Breguet piece and the word Kronometer suggests it was made for the German market. Ligne droite refers to the three pivots, escape wheel pallet lever and balance being in a straight line. The movement is also stamped with a Masonic stamp of a master mason's square and compass.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are German hallmarks for 800 silver inside the case back, together with another Masonic stamp. The outside of the case is decorated to the back and overall the condition is good, just a little unevenness to the side but nothing serious.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The dial has a relatively small patch of damage to the edge by number 8 but otherwise is in good condition. The ornate hands with the jewelled detail are a particularly handsome feature, ornate hands were very popular in Europe at the beginning of the 20th Century.

The watch comes with an antique silver albert, 39cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is a little out of shape.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
