Description

JOSEPH MARTINEAU, LONDON: a good mid-18th century BRACKET CLOCK in full working order.

The ebonised case which is surmounted by a cast brass handle to the bell top, is further embellished with ormolu mounts and four cast finials. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-on a bell, with pull repeat for the quarters on eight bells.

Finely engraved to the backplate of the movement which is an early anchor (not a conversion), whilst the dial features date aperture, "Strike/Silent" to the arch and engraved signature (Joseph Martineau Senior, London) to the silvered chapter-ring. 18ins high.
