A Fine Ormolu Clock Set

Description

A fine Ormolu clock set, C.1890, of 8 day duration, the movement stamped in the backplate by the maker Japy Freres and B.R. for the clocksmith, striking the hours and half hours on a bell. The clock having central urn pediment, leaf and berry finials, lions head mount to the base, tapering leafage pillars and scroll feet. The dial having hand painted rural scenes and the panels to the top and sides etc. featuring floral work. The finely cast side pieces of cherubs holding laurel leaves and supporting twin branch candelabra. Size approx. 14 ins tall [35 cms], 7.5 ins wide [19cms], and 4.75 ins front to back [12cms]. Fully serviced and in excellent condition throughout.
