Oak Longcase, Taylor Perth

Description

A handsome George III oak longcase clock with stylish architectural pediment by Joseph Taylor of Perth, Scotland. He is listed as working there from 1774 - 1790

The clock stands on a shaped plinth base and has a long slim door with arched top. The hood has slim turned columns with brass capitals and matching quarter columns at the rear. Around the arch of the hood are fretted panels of satinwood and at the top is a very smart architectural pediment with dentil moldings.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a brass dial with silvered chapter ring and strike/silent dial.

The maximum dimensions are:

56cm (22“) wide

217cm (85.5“) high

25cm (10“) deep
