An antique silver Waltham Airedale pocket watch, 1885.

The watch has a key-wound movement Airedale & Co grade, which is working nicely. The movement is signed Airedale, Waltham, Mass and the serial number 2641500 which dates it back to between Feb 1885 and Aug 1885. This movement was made in a small quantity of 1100 in total The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

A winding key is included.

The watch measures 52.2mm diameter excluding the stem so it is larger than a standard 50mm diameter watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1885 together with a maker's mark AB for Alfred Bedford, the manager of Waltham UK. The case is in good condition, just some rubbing to the engine turned detail to the back of the watch from years of use. The case backs have a few mild bruises.

The watch glass is in nice condition.

The dial has a couple of faint hairline cracks at 7 o'clock but otherwise it is in nice condition.

The watch has its original gold hands and blued steel sub seconds hand.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
