Description

A pretty mid-19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK of three-quarter size.

The case retains its original fire-gilding and is engraved all over with flowers and scrolls, whilst the 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell, repeating hours at will. It has its original platform escapement; perfect enamel dial and original blued steel "Breguet" moon hands. Just 4.75ins (12cms) tall, handle down.

*** This charming carriage clock is signed to both dial and movement with: "A.B.Savory & Sons, Cornhill, London. This well-known firm, the retailers, worked from 11 & 12, Cornhill, from 1865 until closing in 1893.
