Worboys Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
It has a flat top with a 12 inch square dial flanked by side pillars, a long figured door and an inset base panel with a shaped plinth. The painted enamel dial is signed by the maker, Weston of Hastings. It has a 30 hour birdcage movement that strikes the hours on a bell. Robert Weston is listed as working 1828-78.
