Antique silver Nidor pocket watch and chain.

Nidor was one of the brand names used by Buser & Cie, a family owned business which began in 1892 in Niederdorf, Switzerland.

The watch has a signed stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for London 1919, together with the importer's mark for George Stockwell and also the Nidor name.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is in super condition with just one small knock to the edge of the back. The engine turned detail to the back of the watch is still nice and crisp.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial, with a sunken centre, is in very nice condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a single chain, 21cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a shorter chain which has an 1892 South African one shilling coin.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
