An antique silver Waltham Marquis pocket watch & chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, Marquis grade, which is working nicely. It is fully signed and the serial number 19267611 dates it back to 1913. The Marquis movement had a small production quantity of only 12000 in total.

The watch itself measures 50.3mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1914 with a maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison who was heavily involved in Waltham before emigrating to the UK to set up a watch case manufacturing company. The case has a screw on front and back. The case has light surface marks from use and the odd small bruise to the outer edge but overall it is in nice condition for a 1910s piece.

The glass lens has a couple of tiny nibbles to the outer edge although hardly noticeable.

The white enamel dial is signed with the original retailers name Fattorini & sons from Bradford. The double sunk dial is in nice condition.

The watch has its original gold hands and blued steel sub second hand.

The watch comes on a vintage 1920s silver double albert chain which has Birmingham hallmarks for 1929 and the makers mark HP.

The albert chain has a silver fob with Birmingham hallmarks for 1930.

Each of the longer chains measure 20cm including the T bar and clasp.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
