The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1940s.
The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, signed J W Benson, which is working nicely.
The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1948. There is also a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison (Dennison Watch Case Company) who supplied various watch manufacturers with cases, and also the J W Benson signature. The case is in good condition. The back of the watch has a long service inscription.

The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial dial has a little marking but overall acceptable for a 1940s piece.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a vintage presentation box. It is tatty and the corners are held together with tape but still good to have.
