An antique silver Waltham Farringdon H pocket watch.

The watch has a key-wound movement, Home Watch Co grade, which is working well. The movement is signed Farringdon H, Waltham, Mass and it has the serial number 3365810 which dates it back to around 1887. The back cover is opened by pressing the little button on top of the stem. The watch is wound through the hole on the inner cover. The hands are initially set by opening the front cover and inserting the key to the centre and turning the hands clockwise.

Farringdon was believed to be a business customer who ordered large batches of watches from Waltham. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 52.2mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks for Birmingham 1887 with a mark of AB for Alfred Bedford, the Manager of Waltham’s London office. The case has some unevenness to the back but other than that is in good condition for such an early piece.

The watch glass has light surface marking from use although very acceptable.

The white enamel dial is in nice condition.

The watch has its original gold hands and a blued steel sub second hand.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
