For Sale a Fine Large Ww1 (Great War) Trench Watch in a Waterproof Design Case, Circa 1916.

1900 - 1920
Description

For sale a fine large WW1 (Great War) Trench watch in a waterproof design case, circa 1916. It is very uncommon to find WW1 watches of this size being 41mm in diameter excluding the crown and wire strap lugs. The case is also unusual being of waterproof design, with the front bezel unscrewing to remove the watch movement from the front. Also, the enamel dial is marked with luminous dot markers, again less common. The watch is in excellent full working order, the dial shows only a couple of very fine stress lines as shown in the pics, (taken with a high-resolution lens) that cannot be seen with the naked eye. The original hand set retains all luminous infill. This is truly one for the collector of WW1 trench watches. My theory on this sized watch is that it may be for German Forces. In Konrad Knirims book 150 Years Watches & Clocks of German Forces, there are several photos of German service personnel wearing larger than normal wristlets/wrist watches of a similar large type to this one on offer.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
