Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Of Maple & Co quality, this wonderful antique grandfather clock dates from around 1900 and has a beautifully scrolled swan neck pediment with central brass finial above a glazed door with beautiful turned columns and fretwork sides. The base is beautifully inlaid with satinwood crossbanding boxwood and ebony string inlay.
This wonderful clock appears to be in good working order with Westminster chimes and winding handle. The mahogany has aged to a rich shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
