Description

A handsome Geo III oak and mahogany longcase clock by William Jackson of Frodsham, Cheshire. He is listed as working there from 1795.

The case is mainly oak with mahogany cross banding. The swan neck pediment has some very attractive gilt decoration and dentil moulding. It stands on its original ogee bracket feet and has fluted quarter columns to the trunk with brass capitals.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart painted dial. It has a centre date hand, subsidiary seconds dial and moon phase indicator to the arch.

The case is in good original, unrestored condition and a lovely colour. The movement is in good condition with all functions working and keeping good time.
