Rosewood and Brass Inlay French Mantel Clock (France, C. 1850)

Description

An extremely good quality and finely made French mantel clock. It has a rectangular case of simple lines with canted corners and fine brass inlay lines. The name dial has bevel edge glass and is signed by the maker Leon Pontonie of Paris and is numbered 6054. It has an 8 day movement that strikes the hours and halves on a bell, and is numbered and stamped by the maker. It has its original invar pendulum.

Leon Pontanie is listed as working in 1851.

Current Condition

The case in in perfect original condition and finish, the movement has been fully serviced and is guaranteed for 12 months. If you would like a video clip of this clock striking please email us.
