Johannsen: 2-Day Marine Chronometer

Description

A. JOHANNSEN, LONDON: a good 2-day MARINE CHRONOMETER in perfect working order.

Housed in its brass-bound mahogany case the double lids open to reveal the chronometer set within gymbals which can be locked into place if required. The 56-hour fusee movement with its helical hairspring features an engraved silvered dial with subsidiary seconds and "Up-and-Down" dials, whilst to one corner can be found the original brass "tipsy-turvy" winding key. The case measures: 7.5ins x 7.5ins when closed.

***Asmus Johannsen founded his company in 1859 becoming renown chronometer makers for the Admiralty and the Indian Navy amongst others.
