Antique Silver Cudos Pocket Watch by H J Cooper

An antique Cudos pocket watch by H J Cooper & Co Ltd.

The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel stem winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Cudos, together with the initials HJC for H J Cooper & Co Ltd, who registered the name Cudos in 1910. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 46mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly smaller than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for Birmingham 1919, with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison of the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific case maker who supplied many of the watch companies. The case is in good condition and has engine turned detail to the hinged case back. There is one small “ding” to the back of the watch but not too detrimental. There is also a vacant cartouche.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed white enamel dial is in good condition.

The watch comes with a single albert, unhallmarked but probably Continental silver. The chain measures 24.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp and it weighs 14.7g.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
