Gents 1910 Silver Iwc Trench Watch

A 1910 gents silver IWC trench watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, calibre 64, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Stauffer & Co crown, together with the name Peerless name. These movements first appeared in the IWC movement and parts catalogue in around 1891-92. The movement has the Stauffer mark and also the Peerless name, together with the serial number 479304 which dates it back to 1910. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover… there is a little play in the hinge.

The watch itself measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London (import mark), 1910, with case maker’s initials for Charles Nicolet... Stauffer was taken over by Charles Nicolet in 1874. Overall the case is in good condition, just some unevenness to the back mainly from where a thread through strap has been fitted in the past. The inside of the case is quite tired, as you would expect in a 100 year old watch.

The watch glass has minor marking but not too detrimental at all.

The white enamel dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
