Gents 1940s Parker Chronograph Wrist Watch

A gents 1940s Parker chronograph wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss Venus movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Parker Watch Company, together with the company’s import code PXW.

The Parker Watch Company was registered on 1 January 1927 by Mr Saul Parker in New York City.  Saul came from from watch making stock as his father was Louis Parker (Bercovici-Parkewitz) who had been a partner in the Etna Watch Company with his brother in law, Harry Friedman.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the buttons. The case is plated and has a stainless steel case back which is signed Parker Watch Company. There is some wear and marking to the case , mainly to the back.

An unusual feature of this chrono is the 12-hour bi-directional rotating bezel.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has some marking across it commensurate with its age. Blued steel hands. There are two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other to record up to 45 minutes. The chrono is operated by pressing the top button to start and stop, and the bottom button to re-set although the hands re-set just to the side of zero.

A later black leather strap has been fitted with contrasting white stitching.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
