18th Cent Oak 8 Day Longcase Clock

Description

A handsome oak longcase clock of unusual slim proportions. It is by William Marriott of Oundle, Northamptonshire. He is listed as working there from around 1770

It has a finely engraved silvered dial and a good quality 8 day movement striking the hours on a bell. The dial has subsidiary seconds and date dials.

The case is in lovely original, un-restored condition. The bottom capital from one of the hood columns is missing and part of the back board at the base has been replaced.

The clock is in good running order, keeping good time and is complete with pendulum, weights, bell and a winding key.

The maximum dimensions are:

51cm (20“) wide max, trunk 33cm (13“)

223cm (88“) high

25cm (10“) deep
