Description

Bryer & Sons; No 3094: A fine quality 19th century mahogany MARINE CHRONOMETER in perfect working order and completely original.

The mahogany case with its original hinged upper lid, is bound in brass with side carrying handles and engraved ivory boss to the front. It opens to reveal the chronometer itself, set within brass gymbals, with locking bar and original ratcheted key. The 56-hour movement has an engraved & silvered dial; with subsidiary "Up-and-Down" and seconds dials, whilst both movement and case are numbered: 3094.

***Bryer & Sons were Ship's Chandlers who worked in the Minories from 1878-1888.
