Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The case is in oak with some nice mahogany cross banding and inlay. An unusual feature is the original gilt decorated panels to the hood with an owl and a cockerel.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very decorative painted dial. To the corners are representations of the four seasons and to the arch is a moon phase indicator.
Overall the clock is in good original unrestored condition. The dial is in good condition with only a small mark at 2.00 o'clock. The movement is in good condition with all features working and it is keeping good time.
