Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The case is of unusual ribbed "Gorge" design rarely seen and used only with very fine examples. The 8-day movement strikes hours and quarters on two bells, repeating hours and quarters at will.
(Difficult to photograph!).
It is signed to both dial and the movement: "E & E Emanuel, by Appointment to the Queen, The Hard, Portsea"
