The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. It is fully signed and the serial number of 12,448,888 dates it back to 1903. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the Moon model from the Dennison Watch Case Company.
The case is 10ct gold plated and was originally guaranteed to wear for 20 years. The case has some surface scratches, just from use over the years, but they are not too deep.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens. Original glass lenses were often replaced with acrylic if they broke as it is a much more durable material. The signed dial is in lovely condition.

The watch comes with a single watch chain, also gold plated but a little more rose gold than the watch, which measures 35cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a shorter chain upon which hangs a drilled imitation 1896 1 Pond (Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek).
The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
