Antique Waltham ‘Sterling’ Silver Pocket Watch

Antique 1900 Waltham ‘Sterling’ silver pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, Sterling grade, which is working nicely. The movement is signed American Waltham, Sterling and the serial number 10,106,899 dates it back to 1900. The movement hinges out the front of the case in an early attempt to make a hermetic case… although, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water.

The watch itself is chunky and it measures 57mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and was made by the Crescent Watch Case Company. It is signed with the company name inside the case back, together with Pioneer, presumably the model of case, Waltham, Mass. The case is in good condition for its age, just a fairly shallow indentation to the back.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The white dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. The minute hand is very slightly out of shape.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
