Description

An impressive Geo III mahogany longcase clock by John Dodds of Sunderland. He is listed as working there at Low Street in the late 18th Cent up to his death in 1813.

The case is very nicely figured mahogany with some interesting wide bands of rosewood inlay. The arched toped hood has very smart fretted ornamentation.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has an attractive brass and silvered dial.

The case is in good condition and a lovely colour but does have a few minor veneer chips and a fine shrinkage crack to the base, that said it looks very smart.

The movement is in good working order and keeping excellent time.
