Regency Mahogany Drop Dial Wall Clock (England, C. 1820)

19th century
Description

A light mahogany drop dial wall clock of simple form dating to the Regency period. It has a traditional pegged case, a turned outer rim and a cast brass bezel with a convex glass. The convex trunk has a bowed dor within the drop. The 12" enamel convex dial is signed by the maker, Richard James of London. The 8 day fusee movement has shaped plates. A Richard James is listed as working in Red Lion Square in 1791.

Current Condition

The case is in excellent original condition with some minor restorations, the dial has had the blackwork restored, preserving the original ground the movement is guaranteed for 12 months.
