19th Cent Oak & Mahogany Moon Dial Longcase Clock

Description

An attractive moon dial longcase clock of nice small size. It is by Peter Poignand of Jersey. He is listed as working there from 1807 to 1811.

The case is in oak with mahogany veneer to the hood and cross banding to the trunk door. There is a very nice shell inlaid to the trunk door. The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a most attractive "Wilson" dial with a moon phase indicator to the arch.

The case is generally in good condition but it does have the odd age related mark and minor veneer chip. The movement is in good working order and keeping good time. The moon phase and date indicators are working as they should.

The maximum dimensions are:

206cm (81") high excluding finial + 9cm (3.5")

49.5cm (19.5") wide

24cm (9.5") deep
