Late 18th Cent 30hr Oak Longcase Clock

Description

A handsome late 18th Cent Longcase Clock for restoration. It is by Lewis Hopkins of Tewkesbury, Glos. He is listed as working there around 1800.

The case is in oak and is in good, unrestored condition but the RH side of the swan neck pediment needs gluing.

It has a 30hr movement that strikes the hours on a bell (bell missing). The movement is unusual in that it has twin imitation winding holes that make it look like a more expensive 8 day clock. It has an attractive "1st period" Wilson dial with nice quality painting to the corners.

The movement appears complete and runs and strikes with pressure on the wheels. It comes with a pendulum and weight. The pendulum suspension spring need replacing and the chain needs re-threading so that it can strike.

The maximum dimensions are:

219cm (86") high, excluding finial

48cm (19") wide

25cm (10") deep
