Early Engraved French Carriage Clock

19th century
Description

A large size, fine quality and early French CARRIAGE CLOCK in spectacular original condition and full working order.

The case, including handle, is profusely engraved, with a solid back door, similarly engraved and fitted with shutters to access for winding. The 8-day movement strikes hours & half-hours on a bell, repeating hours at will, with additional alarm train and retains its original early platform lever escapement.

The enamel dial, with its blue numerals is perfect as are the original gilded trefoil hands. An important early carriage clock. 6.75ins high; 4.25ins wide (17 x 10.8cms).
