Antique Waltham Private Label Pocket Watch, 1891

An antique Waltham private label pocket watch, The Faringdon H.

The watch has a key wound movement, Home Watch Co grade, model 1883, which is working nicely. A winding key is included. The movement is signed Regd The Faringdon H, Waltham, Mass and the serial number 4775489 dates it back to February / March 1891. It was part of a very small production run of 1000 items (total production 86,100). The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover with some marking where it has been opened in the past.

The watch itself measures 52mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1890 with a maker’s mark for Alfred Bedford, the Manager of Waltham UK. There is some unevenness to the case, mainly the back and rubbing to the engine turned detail.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The dial is signed Regd The Faringdon H, USA. It is in good condition with just the minute hand being a little out of shape but barely noticeable.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
