Striking Oak Mantel Clock

1900 - 1920
Description

A solid oak cased mantel clock, dating to the early 20th Century. It has a shaped pediment, a central carved motif, flanked by barley twist columns, a thick bevel edge glass and an enamel dial that is signed by the original retailer, Sir John Bennett of 65 Cheapside, London.

The clock has a French 8 day movement made by Samuel Marti, that strikes the hours and halves on a gong.

Sir John Bennet's shop front is now in the in The Henry Ford Museum in The USA.https://www.thehenryford.org/collections-and-research/digital-collections/artifact/185980

Current Condition

The case has been repolished, the movement will be fully serviced prior to sale and will be guaranteed for 12 months. If you would like a video clip of this clock striking please email us.
