Phenix British Rail (South) Pocket Watch and Chain

1920 - 1940
Description

A Phenix open faced pocket watch, British Rail (Southern), circa 1940s, and chain.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement, calibre 781, which is working nicely.

The watch itself measures 49mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The watch has a good quality nickel case which has a screw-on bezel and back. The case back has the BR(S) for British Rail (Southern) together with the reference 8089. There is a some shallow unevenness to the case back but nothing too serious.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed white enamel dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a single chain which measures 30cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
