Very Small Twin Fusee Four-glass Clock

Description

THOMAS YATES, Preston: a very small and fine quality, twin fusee English "FOUR GLASS" MANTLE CLOCK in lovely original condition.

The case is of beautifully figured rosewood with bevelled glass panels to the top and sides and it is supported on pretty cast brass compressed bun feet.

The 8-day twin-fusee movement strikes hours on a bell and repeats hours at will. Original blued steel hands and engraved signature to the silvered 4.5ins square dial. A charming and rare clock, just 9ins high.

**THOMAS YATES of 159 Friargate, Preston, Lancashire was a renowned maker who patented a slow-beating watch escapement in 1846.
