The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1884. The case is in good condition for such an early piece, just three small indentations to the side.
The watch glass is in good order.
Also included with the watch is a piece of paper from Christmas 1927 when the watch was given ‘to Vinnie by her mother and father’… previously the watch had belonged to Vinnie’s grandfather a Mr A W Rodway, so it is was a true heirloom.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
