Mahogany Chamfer Top Bracket Clock (England, C. 1830)

Description

This is a substantial mahogany bracket clock with brass filled, chamfered corners and inlaid panel to the front. The case is raised on 4 adjustable ball feet, having a glazed door to the back and silk lined fretted sound holes either side with carrying handles above, surmounted by a pineapple finial. It has an 8 day double fusee movement, heavy plates with engraved borders and detailing. There is a pull-repeat cord to the side striking the hours on a bell. The convex dial is signed "Finnemore-Birmingham" and the false plate also signed and numbered #467. We believe this to be William Finnemore & Son; dial makers listed as working 1828-36. It has a cast brass bezel with a convex glass.

Current Condition

The clock is in excellent condition. The case has been revived and re-waxed retaining its original patina. The dial has been restored and the movement has been fully serviced in our own workshops and is sold with 12 months guarantee
