Weber & Dubois ‘La Perfection’ Hunter Pocet Watch

An antique Weber & Dubois ‘La Perfection’ full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the W&D mark for Weber & Dubois, ‘Marque Deposee’ which means ‘Registered Trademark’, and the brand name "La Perfection". The company Weber & Dubois was registered in October 1892 and they were based in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover upon which is the name ‘La Perfection’.

The watch itself measures 56mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so it is larger than most standard 50mm pocket watches. The case is not hallmarked but it has tested positively as being silver. The case is beautifully detailed to both the front and back, and there is also a vacant cartouche to the front.

The front cover is opened by pressing the winding crown in. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. The signed white enamel dial has a very nice appearance with ornate hands (initially set by way of the pin set mechanism), and Roman numerals surrounded by outer minute markers with Arabic numbers. There are a couple of minor hairline cracks by number V and some damage, and subsequent repair, between IX and X (to the perimeter of the dial).
