Early French Striking Carriage Clock (France, 1840 to 1850)

Description

An early, French striking carriage clock, dating to around 1840. It has a heavy gilded brass case, with a flush fitting top handle chamfered panel sides and a beautifully engraved dial mask and a silvered dial. The 8 day locking plate movement has its original lever platform and strikes the hours and haves on a gong. The gong is stamped "FD"

Current Condition

The case is in original condition, with some marks commensurate with age. The movement has been fully serviced in our own workshops and is guaranteed for 12 months. If you would like a video clip of this clock striking please email us.
