A gents silver wrist watch, 1914.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch itself measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the articulated lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case for London 1914 together with an importer’s (or sponsor’s) mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case has a couple of fairly small indentations to the side and some unevenness to the hinged back but overall is acceptable for such an early piece. The winding crown is a replacement although it appears to have been on for some time.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial has some damage to the edge, next to number 9, but the majority is covered by the bezel.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
