A 1918 Silver Hexameter Pocket Watch

A 1918 silver Hexameter pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Hexameter name… there is some thought that this could have been a private label name, or the UK import name, for Thommen watches but we can find no definitive evidence of this. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover… upon which a previous owner has scratched their initials quite neatly.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1918 with a maker’s mark for the London based watch case maker Fred Thoms. Fred Thoms started trading in 1880 when he took over the running of a workshop previously owned by George Thickbroom. The case is in beautiful condition.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is in beautiful condition, and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
