An Antique Silver Pocket Watch, 1892, with History

An antique silver pocket watch, 1892.

The watch has a 3/4 plate stem-winding movement which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around three to four minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed G W Harvey, Wellington… a print out with the history of Harveys and some anecdotes will be included with the watch.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has an inscription from Easter 1900 from when the watch was presented to Mr Benjamin Candlin in recognition of his long service as choirmaster at St Leonards in Malinslee.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and crown. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both case backs for London 1892. The case is in good condition.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial looks good to the naked eye; if viewed through a magnifying loupe, there are two faint short hairlines at the top of the dial. Blued steel hands, initially set by way of the pin-set mechanism, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
